The sports committee at XLRI Delhi-NCR has genuinely been the 2nd leg to the grandeur legacy at XLRI Jamshedpur and aims to inculcate the same sporting culture. Within two years of the campus being operational, the sports committee has ignited the sporting culture of the campus by managing more than ten sports with top-notch infrastructure. The leadership (captain’s & vice-captain’s) of each sport work with the committee to make all the sports fests, practices, and other events a big success by taking a holistic approach.
Top sports played on campus are Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Pool, Volleyball, Tennis, Carrom, Chess. Each sport has its infrastructure with adequate floodlights, equipment, and most importantly, the sportspersons, who work hard every day to make the team stronger. In less than 18 months, the sports committee has conducted several online (due to COVID restrictions during 2020 – 2021) and 6+ on-ground events. The committee aims to broader its horizon by hosting and touring other top-notch MBA schools in the country. Just like the XL-IIMC, newer legacies will be formed with sheer dedication and involvement.
Under the management of the senior committee members(Ayush, Pranay, Nagendra, and Apurv), the committee is in very competent hands. Being joined by committed and hard-working juniors (Piyush, Siddharth, Pavitra, and Sayali), the Sportscom team of XLRI Delhi NCR is a commendable one. All the members play a diaspora of sports and cover all bases required to manage all activities and other stakeholders. The XLRI administration has been instrumental in providing seamless support to help the committee realize its goals.
Apart from the on-ground activities, the committee considers the externalities and understands the need to inculcate the sportsperson’s mindset into the picture. It has interviewed 2012 London Olympic medallist Mathias Boe, Indian top baddy Kuhoo Garg, and many other renowned top-notch athletes to learn from them. It hopes to invite other known athletes to the new campus to continue the trend.
